There are many services that run all night through the district to places like Victoria, Paddington and St Pancras, the other major gateways with airport and cruise port transport. Night buses that run when the Underground is closed provide an alternative if you have a very early or late flight. The London Underground runs every couple of minutes between about 5:30 am and midnight and buses run 24x7. Otherwise, you will require a taxi or local public transport to get you to your airport/ cruise port transfer.

Blackfriars has direct trains to Gatwick and Luton airports. London Bridge has direct trains to Gatwick and Dover cruise port. Liverpool Street Station has direct airport bus and trains to Stansted Airport and trains to Harwich Cruise Port. The major transport hubs in the area are Liverpool Street Station, Blackfriars and London Bridge Station. A private charter bus is well worth considering for such groups.

The exception to the rule perhaps being if you have a group or lots and lots of luggage. Transferring to the City of London will most likely take a lot longer, as it is the other side of London from Heathrow and cost a lot more. But even so, any vehicle transfer from Heathrow is going to take at least an hour. Heathrow is the only airport where the cost of taxi transfers can make them worth consideration.
